The newest member of The Travel Queen Show, Dawn Allan, brings with her years of experience in the business world. With more than 10 years of corporate experience, Dawn is poised to help “manage” The Queen—if that is even possible! Offering a unique blend of creative and organizational strengths she is ready to tackle the travel industry. In addition to “managing” The Queen, Dawn will be responsible for producing the weekly radio show, setting up live remote broadcasts, promotions and sales, and most importantly making her highness look good…especially in photos!

Dawn’s passion for travel began quite early on, when her Grandfather used to take her and her younger brother on day trips around the great state of Michigan. One of her favorite day trips was when they went on a steam engine train. While her brother rolled his eyes as their Grandfather told the history of the train, Dawn sat attentive listening to every bit of information. As she grew older, her interest in travel expanded to more exciting places both inside and outside of Michigan.

Her travels include a five week trip to Spain after high school graduation, a cross country train trip to Arizona/New Mexico, a jungle trek to the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador, a cross country road trip through Memphis to San Antonio and more traditional type travel including camping trips across Michigan, beach vacations to Myrtle Beach, Walt Disney World and Mackinac Island.

Along with her passion for travel is her love of food. She is addicted to the Food Network and learning new recipes. As she travels she loves to find really good local places to eat. Some of her favorite places to eat in Michigan are: The Water Lily at the Soaring Eagle Casino Resort in Mt. Pleasant (she recommends their Heirloom Tomato Salad and Cast Iron Seared Fillet of Beef), Ciao Bella on Front Street in downtown Traverse City (she recommends their Caprese Salad and any of their made from scratch daily pasta) and Lefty’s Drive-In on M-25 in Caseville (she recommends their foot long hot dog and onion rings on a stick—and of course a “Boston Cooler” to wash it down).

Dawn received her Undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Central Michigan University. Next to her love of travel and food is her love for all things Maroon and Gold! Go fire up Chips! She lives in the Lansing area along with her husband.

Be sure to check out Dawn’s blog for the straight scoop on traveling with The Queen, a behind the scenes look at producing a radio show, food and restaurant recommendations and so much more!
